The new year always brings with it a slew of inspiration. Like most of you, I have a few resolutions in mind for 2020. As a busy crafter, my craft room can become very hectic with supplies scattered about. One goal I have is to keep this room more organized. I decided to add a little decoration incentive to help keep the room spic and span. I was planning on creating a gallery wall with art when Craft Cuts and Beacon Adhesives reached out with the perfect decor solution.
Craft Cuts is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to create a one-of-a-kind custom wood piece. I loved the idea of being able to create something unique with Craft Cuts then adding a touch of my own style with Beacon Adhesives. I decided to have my favorite Stephen Pressfield quote made into an inspirational sign that would hang in the most creative room in my house. “Show up every day” perfectly embodies being self-employed. If I don’t show up, my business doesn’t grow.
I subscribe to the philosophy that even small steps add up to big things over time. By showing up every day and taking action, even if it’s little, we move closer to our goals. I knew the new custom baltic birch wood letter sign would breathe life into my craft room, now I just needed to design a wall that would inspire creativity.
I decided to keep the dark turquoise color I had originally painted the wall and paint the “show up” letters in the complementary color paprika (burnt orange). Then I wanted to add some stylish flair to the “every day” portion of the sign so I spray painted the letters in a creamy off-white color and added some texture by using Beacon Adhesives 527 and felt confetti. I love how well 527 works; it has serious sticking power. It also dries quickly, which means I can adhere something and leave it, knowing it’s secure! After the felt confetti was glued, it created a chic terrazzo effect and matched the wall perfectly. Both brands were generous enough to give 20% off all wood letters and craft glues to BlissMakes readers with the code (BLISS20), YAY!
Lastly, I needed something to accent the quote which has become the centerpiece of the room. I came across a bunch of baskets at a garage sale and was over the moon with their beautiful colors. They would match my new sign and the turquoise really well. Talk about a lucky find! I quickly went home and added them to the wall and the beautiful sign was complete! I’m honestly so excited to share the results with you! Let’s get to making!

5 colors of felt
paprika and off-white spray paint
The first step is to prep and paint the letters. Wipe the letters off to ensure there is no dust. Then arrange the “show up” portion of the sign onto a piece of cardboard.
Next, holding the paprika spray paint one foot away, coat the letter evenly. This will take about 3 coats of paint; let dry.
Repeat this step with the off-white color and the “every day” portion of the sign; let dry.
While the paint is drying, cut up the felt into confetti; you need about a handful. Then using the 527, adhere the felt to the sign and let dry. The final step is to add the velcro nails to the back of the wood. I loved using these! I was able to adjust the letters as needed to make sure they lined up.
