How much do you love the modern shape art trend? It fits our home’s minimal décor aesthetic so perfectly. I have been eyeing a few artists and plan on buying some for the house, but in the meantime, I decided to make one out of paper!
The first thing I did was design the concept in a drawing app, then I went out to find scrapbook paper. Here is the deal with paper, guys: Construction paper is flimsy and it frays, poster board and large drawing sheets are useful, and scrapbook paper is where it’s at.
Scrapbook paper is sturdy and easy to cut. If you end up making a mistake, as long as you’re using sharp scissors you will be able to fix it. Another great thing about sb paper is the color variety. I chose a few different shades and was ready to get to making!
Supplies needed for DIY Modern Shape Wall Art:
7 colors of scrapbook paper
Picture frame with mat
Lay down the piece of construction paper and measure a rectangle to fit your picture frame. Then cut out one large shape; use this shape as your anchor. Next, cut out about 5 or 6 shapes to arrange around the anchor shape. Once you are satisfied with your design, begin gluing the shapes to the poster board. Frame it and you’re done!
