My mom and I are very close. I would absolutely consider her my best friend. For better or worse she is my ride or die. So when it comes to gifts I have to hook her up!
What better way to make Mom feel special than to decorate her gift with something thoughtful and handmade?! These quick and easy crepe paper flower gift tags will definitely dress up your gifts, letting Mom know she is your number one. Plus, the leaves double as a mini card!
Crepe paper flowers may seem a bit intimidating. I know I was a little nervous when I first started making them. But this formula is SUPER EASY. I like to look up pictures of flowers to get inspiration for petal shapes, then all you need is a fringe stamen and a hot glue gun! The flower combinations are endless. Let’s get to making!
Supplies for quick and easy crepe paper flowers:
Crepe paper sheets in a few different colors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Green card stock
Step one: Cut a 2×1 in. piece of crepe paper for the stamen. Then snip small cuts horizontally across the top, creating a fringe texture. The stamen will be a little larger then we need, so you have something to hold onto when gluing the petals on.
Step two: Roll the stamen paper up, and use hot glue to secure it. Then fan out the fringe.
Step three: Cut out the petal shape you would like to use, then fold the crepe paper in a zig-zag motion five times. Using your original petal shape as a guide, cut out more petals. Repeat this step until you have enough petals for a full flower.
Step four: Use your thumb and forefinger to curve each of the petals.
Step five: One by one, starting with the smallest petal, begin to glue to the stamen. Because we are attaching these flowers to presents you will want to glue just below the fringe cuts, so the underside of the flower is flat. Once you are done gluing, snip off any leftover stamen from underneath the flower.
Step six: Fold the green cardstock in half, then from the fold cut out “leaves” for the card. Next, cut out several individual leaves.
Step seven: Hot glue your flowers and leaves to the top of your gifts. Then apply the Mom stickers to the top of your leaf card.
