I’m currently crushing on all things clay; I love the organic feel it adds to a project. Since rainbows are all the rage right now, a clay rainbow craft was inevitable. Using polymer clay, I was able to dress up a store-bought vase in this modern trend. Choose a theme that’s inspired by your home’s color pallet for a custom piece of art/home décor! Let’s get to making!
Supplies for clay rainbow vase:
Hot glue and a glue gun
Step one: Choose 4 colors of clay in 2 oz. packaging. Roll the entire block of clay into a ball. Then roll the ball into a snake (we’re going back to childhood here!).
Step two: Starting with the innermost color make a small U shape. For the next layer make a slightly larger U, gauging the size by lining the clay snake up to the smaller U layer. Then gently press the two clay U’s together to create a bond. Continue this process for the rest of the rainbow layers.
Step three: Use a knife to even out the bottom half of the rainbow by trimming off any uneven pieces.
Step four: Bake clay by following the instructions listed on the package.
Step five: Once the clay has cooled, use a hot glue gun to attach the clay to the vase in a fun pattern.
