This stylish DIY is not only practical but it will only cost you a few dollars to make.
Keeping track of earrings is not an easy task. I’m often taking them off and leaving them around the house. One thing leads to another and a pair of earrings always becomes a solo earring. So I decided to make this DIY felt earring organizer.
At the end of the day, I know I can muster the strength to put my earrings back on this hanging organizer, mainly because I really like it! What’s not to love about a project that only takes a few minutes and a few dollars?! Let’s get to making!
Supplies for DIY earring organizer:
9 x 12in Felt
Teal acrylic paint
Sewing machine and thread
Step one: Lay the felt out vertically. Measure the felt to five inches across on the top and bottom of the piece of felt, then draw a line using the ruler as a guide.
Step two: Cut the felt down the line.
Step three: Cut the dowel in half and sand out the edges; lay your 5x9in. piece of felt out flat. Place the dowel towards the top of the felt (the 5 in. side) and then roll the felt over the dowel to create a pocket. Use the pins to secure the felt and remove the dowel. Repeat this step for the bottom half.
Step four: Turn the folded side down and use your sewing machine to sew the dowel pocket together, removing the pins as you go. Repeat this step for the bottom half.
Step five: Push the dowels back into the felt pockets and center them. Then use the teal paint to paint the ends of the dowels.
Step six: Tie a piece of string to both ends of the top dowel.
